10:00–10:45 AM ET: “How Community Colleges Can Bridge the Gap for Nontraditional Students” with Kennon Briggs

Kennon Briggs served in state and local government for 32 years before retiring from the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) in 2012. He has since served as Interim President or Interim Chief Financial Officer at five community colleges in the NCCCS and established a thriving Higher Education Consulting Practice. Briggs has expertise in community college governance, policy, and financial matters and completed ten Presidential Searches for the Association of Community College Trustees. He recently served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the University of North Carolina Asheville and is a Contract Consultant with Accenture. Briggs received numerous awards, including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2013.

Back by popular demand, Dr. Haugabrook will expand on his February 2023 Upswing webinar to share more insight and expertise around re-engaging and engaging Black and minority male students.

Dr. Adrian K. Haugabrook is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Social Impact Collective at Southern New Hampshire University. He provides strategic leadership for the university's national and global investments in innovations that extend the university's mission. Adrian sits on several boards, including the Postsecondary National Policy Institute and Complete College America. He has a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a master's from Georgia Southwestern State University, and a bachelor's from the University of West Georgia.
12–12:45 PM ET: Tech, Learning, and Support for Diverse Adult Learners with Daisy Magnus-Aryitey, Code the Dream
Co-Executive Founder of Code the Dream, Daisy Magnus-Aryitey, will share her experience inspiring resilience in helping people from diverse and low-income backgrounds learn how to code and build apps.
Daisy is the Co-Executive Director of Code the Dream, a non-profit tech startup in Durham, NC. She expanded the organization from a local to a national training program with a focus on tech education and increasing access to economic opportunities. Prior to joining the organization, Daisy worked as a software developer at Duke University. She is a public speaker and sits on the Technical Education Programs Committee at the Emily K Center in Durham. She was recently featured on the cover of the most recent issue of Durham Magazine. Daisy holds a Master's in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship from UNC Chapel Hill and a BA from Rutgers University.
